It depends on what is meant by ‘freelance peer network’. Proz? Upwork, Fiverr and the kind? In the first case, at the moment the biggest perk is community support. I wouldn’t say ‘mental support’ because the whinging chorus of AI victimhood doesn’t help at all. Let’s say that I’m an irritating optimist by nature (the Pollyana type). As for the other networks, I don’t know them well enough to be able to comment.

Is there such a thing as a freelance peer network?

Is in there a supposed parallel with what in computing is a 'peer network' - where all nodes are 'equal' and there is no central control?

Proz labels itself FIRST as a 'market place' but still has features likes forums and Kudoz, so to some extent it can be seen as a kind of 'peer network'. Same for Translators Cafe. No other that I know of.

As far as I know all sites of the Upwork, Fiverr & Co type are even less of a 'peer network' - more like not at all. Only pure 'market places' - end of.

Unless you want to join the current fashion trend and stretch the meaning of 'peer network' beyond recognition.

Then surely you could even call Uber 'a peer network' of drivers ...
