Оригінал - українська Тератоми є найпоширенішим типом пухлин зародкових клітин у дитячому віці. Найбільш частою локалізацією їх виникнення у дітей є крижово-куприкова ділянка, статеві залози, межистіння та шишковидна ділянка. Пухлини голови та шиї складають лише від 0,47% до 6% усіх тератом. Гістологічно вони складаються з ектодерми, мезодерми та ентодерми. Тератоми шиї можуть супроводжуватись обструкцією дихальних шляхів. Крім того, у новонароджених може бути власне ураження гортані або трахеї.
Тератоми голови і шиї зазвичай добре васкуляризовані, що може призвести до летальної крововтрати під час резекції пухлини.
Якщо новонароджена дитина переживе епізод респіраторного дистрес-синдрому, то в подальшому можуть виникнути ускладнення у вигляді дисфункції структур обличчя, мускулатури шиї та черепних нервів.

Переклад - англійська Teratomas are the most common germ cell tumors in children. Most frequently, they are found in the sacrococcygeal region, testicles, mediastinum, and pineal region. Tumors of the head and neck constitute only 0.47% to 6% of all teratomas. Histologically, they comprise ectodermal, mesodermal, and endodermal tissues. Neck teratomas can lead to airway obstruction. Sometimes, newborns can have the larynx or trachea involved.
Head and neck teratomas usually are highly vascularized, which can cause fatal blood loss during tumor resection.
If a newborn suffers an episode of respiratory distress syndrome, this might lead to further complications such as dysfunction of facial structures, neck muscles, and cranial nerves.
The treatment strategies for giant teratomas of the head and neck in infants remain contentious and continue to provoke debates among pediatric surgeons. This article presents a clinical case of a congenital giant teratodermoid tumor of the head and neck in an infant.
