Italian term

scrittura del corpo aperto

Italian to English Other Cinema, Film, TV, Drama forthcoming theatre season programme

Honestly, I have never heard of this term: could it possibly be "open body" ballet....? Or something along those lines...I haven't got a clue!

Discussion

ChananZass Aug 12, 2015:
scrittura = choreography I suspect the text refers to keeping the the choreography open to improvisations. Not sure though.
Therese Marshall (asker) Aug 12, 2015:
Oops! My fault @Barbara Carrara Thanks!
@JudyC - I was writing too quickly! My typo! Sorry!
Barbara Carrara Aug 12, 2015:
Judy It should read 'aperta' (scrittura aperta), as per excerpt.
JudyC Aug 12, 2015:
apertA or apertO ??

Tamar: I don’t ever demonstrate movement I kind of just tell them. I want you to start behind. It’s behind your sternum. I want you to then drop down to the place between your shin and your calf. I give them a body script.

Juliana: Right. It’s like moving from language to language or moving from one language to another language.

Tamar: Or it was before language.

Wow! How great for me to meet the choreographer I want to reference for my dance senior work! I love anatomy-based choreography and the idea of a body script. Although Right after the master I was really excited about giving it a shot in my solo, however it is a lot harder to implement now that the majority of it is set. - See more at: http://middlab.middlebury.edu/2010/10/26/curricular-connecti...

1 hr

loosely structured (writing) style

I would understand it as a less formal style, open, discussion like.

in that case my guess would be

scrittura del corpo aperta = FREE FLOWING/UNSTRUCTURED BODY LANGUAGE

OR
open gestural expression....the 'scrittura' must be the way the body expresses itself-non-linguistically through gestures, dance, mime etc.

here dance is described as la scrittura del corpo and the philosopher Carlo Sini also decribes gestures as the 'writing of the body'

neutral Barbara Carrara : It's not the writing style that is being discussed here, but rather the choreographic expression. / If you read the above like I do, perhaps you may want to rework your suggestion.
