Finnish term

reunaehto

Outside of mathematics and engineering, how would one translate the term "reunaehto". I'm sure it isn't "boundary conditions". Can anyone give me some advice on this?

constraint

Possible contexts: a) a fact that restricts the potential solutions to a problem; b) characteristic used to screen possible solution candidates; c) a relationship among objects that sets a limit on values the objects can achieve. In c) the translation would also be "boundary condition".

Thank you!
agree Spencer Allman : Do you think 'constraint' works in contracts?. I never know how to translate this, and sometimes just write 'conditions' and hope it will go away

Contract terms list provisions (ehdot) of various kinds. Limitations or constraints (reunaehtoja) arise when the contract terms are qualified in some way. Maybe this helps!
