���� ����� - perfect use of a verb with ���, perfectly understandable. If ��� is the more suitable word, then it's not wise IMO to go for another word simply because it allows you to derive a verb. But you're entitled to your personal opinion of course.

Arabic and Syriac use roots; English and Romantic languages not. They have infinitives, and use the help of prefixes and suffixes. If you take your cases, and thinking of the etmology of words (how they came to be) ���� started as a result of eating too much ���. Lunars were thought to be related to la luna...

Back to "to profile", and if we are creating the concept, not translating, it would help much better to have the Arabic equiavlents of "a profile" and "profile(d)" from the same Arabic root.

English is not the best language to follow, because in Arabic ���� ����� ����, and in German "die Luete essen Essen", while in English, "people eat food". That is why I prefer Hazem's ����� over Yaser's ��� ��������, because we can derive a verb from the first, ���� ������ ��������, while in the second, one cannot ����� ��������.

Both Arabic and English use roots to derive multiple words, more liberally in English than in Arabic. But there is no reason for ����� and ������ to be derived from the same root in English just because it is so in Arabic. And vice versa.

I beg to differ. The stregth of Arabic is that it is based on roots, something that allows a lot of fredom in derivation. It is when we use a noun from one root and a verb from another that the words feel imported from a foreign language. Since "to profle" means "to make a profile", I believe Arabic is able to accomodate the meaning, when us Arabic speakers choose to. English is irrelevant here. I am only looking for a better word or coinage.

There is no reason why "profile" and "profiling" need to be derived from the same root in Arabic just because they are so in English. This procedure would disfigure the Arabic language, turning it into a monstrous copy of English.

That (and any) context helps a lot - I don't think it's right to try to find one single Arabic word which corresponds to the one English word, regardless of the context.
