English term (edited): rain check

"Rain check" is two words, not one. "Rain check" does not mean to move a planned meeting. It rather means a promise to make the offer (whatever it is) at a future, more convenient time. Here is the full dictionary definition:

1. A ticket stub entitling the holder to admission to a future event if the scheduled event is canceled because of rain. This is how the expression came about.

2. An assurance to a customer that an item on sale that is sold out or out of stock may be purchased later at the sale price. This is the most common usage.

3. A promise that an unaccepted offer will be renewed in the future. Example: "He declined the invitation to dinner, but asked for a rain check." This is not a very common usage.
