Marshalling Yard Sometimes known as a ‘Classification Yard’. Means several railway lines that are interconnected by Points to form a private network of railway lines, for the storage of Rakes. There are generally three types:
● Flat Yard – all movement is powered utilising shunt Locomotives.
● Hump Yard – uses gravity after a hump in the track is passed.
● Gravity Yard – the entire yard is inclined and uses gravity.
