German term

sich begegnen auf

German to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
Hello, I am translating a review of an exhibition and the construction "sich begegnen auf" comes up:

What I've come up with so far is:

Does this construction hint at something else? Thank you for your suggestions.

They were drawn into the same orbit, examining the fading traces of the past etc.. This means they intersected intellectually at a certain level, which the author describes here.
