"Agency" is the quality of having free volition that makes individuals individually responsible for the actions they take. It is a central concept in law and ethics.
The sense of agency is the awareness of being the responsible source of the volitional actions that we take, including the thoughts that we think. It implies a sense of ownership: the actions I take are mine.
