Discussion

Joseph Brazauskas Nov 13, 2006:
Dita, could you provide a clause or sentence either preceding or following the Latin? I need the immediate context, since the Latin is too obscure in isolation for me to make more than a wild guess.

those who are gods to themselves (who consider themselves their gods)

I suppose it's about those who treat themselves as their only gods.

Dita, can you provide the context in which you've met the phrase? At least, the general context, descriptively.

I can't see how it may be connected to privacy. May it be anyhow related to religious views? Say, an Islamic position to peope of other faiths?
Note from asker:
Thank you Kirill. To be honest I don't understand why this latin sentence is in the document. I don't see the relation, the document is about privacy. Again Thanks
The document is about training material of the privacy policy in a company. How the personal data should be treated.

neutral Flavio Ferri-Benedetti : but why "those", when "ipsum" and "quid" are singular? Unfortunately the sentence is too obscure... we need more context :(

Hello Flavio :) Yes, I changed it to plural in my translation, I supposed it sounded more natural in English. And you're right, more context is needed. I just wonder may it be related to non-Muslims, for instance?
