Source text:
The culture supports “go-getters,” people who can “figure it out,” take “initiative” and be “autonomous.” This leads to silos and a general lack of connection in the organization.

My try:

silo noun [C] (PART)

- a part of a company, organization, or system that does not communicate with, understand, or work well with other parts:

We found that a lot of people work in silos - they don't see the connections between what they do and how another part of the airline operates.

I fully agree with the explanation for silos above. I have worked in large corporations and suffered the silos working, i.e.: areas or departments of a company that work on their own without any connection or coordination with the rest of the company. I would use "áreas" or "departamentos", as the silos concept refers to parts of a company, (as perfectly explained in the answer above). In Spanish I have used and seen being used commonly the words: "áreas" or "departamentos" to refer to parts of a company.
