English term

Carcimea

English to Arabic Science Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-) Forensics
A test in the Forensics lab to see if the stains found on certain items is blood:

We rub the filter paper on the dark stain.
This is a carcimary agent. It's made up of carcimea and alcohol. We pop a drop of that on (on the filter paper). If we get a pink reaction on the filter paper, that's positive. You put hydrogen peroxide on over the top, and that will initiate the reaction.

I can't find it anywhere. Please help!

Dear Imane..
If possible, contact the writer of the original text or your client to check if the word is misspelt. If this is not possible or you get no result, then assume this is the name of some chemical element and transliterate it.
Iman Khaireddine (asker) Jan 9, 2007:
Hi Zeinab and thank you. There could be some mistake here, a typo or spelling error, since I can't find "Carcimea" nor "Carcimary", but I'm afraid "Carcinoma" has nothing to do with this context :(
Zeinab Asfour Jan 9, 2007:
Dear Imane...
First of all, hope all is well your end :)

Tane she...could it be Carcinoma? There is no such thing as Carcimea?!
This is the only logical conclusion I found!

According to a website dedicated for spotting spelling errors is the same word "carcinoma" which means a carcinogenic agent/cell. The website mentioned that the word "carcinoma" has been misspelt more often than not and is written sometimes in the following forms
crcnoma, crcioma, crcinma, crcinoa, crcinom, cainoma, cacnoma, cacioma, cacinma, cacinoa, cacinom, carnoma, carioma, carinma, carinoa, carinom, carcoma, carcnma, carcnoa, carcnom, carcima, carcioa, carciom, carcina, carcinm, carcino, squamous, cell, carcinoma,

Another conclusion based on the WHO histological classification of tumours is that

"carcima" is mentioned as follows
the Early invasive (microinvasive) squamous cell carcima

أي أولى مراحل نمو الخلية السرطانية

Now to translation
If I were you, I would either
Transliterate it as كارسيما
or translate as
مادة مسرطنة
And
in order to keep the safe side, TRANSLITERATE!

Regards

كارسيميا

carcimary agent:
عامل كارسيمي
عامل منشط للكارسيميا
Obviously it has nothing to do with "Carcinoma". Most probably it is a new chemical compound or enzyme is used for Blood Identification.
