de leur propre ethnie/race-ou-du même sang

جلدتهم fait référence (c'est une image) à la peau (de la même peau) ; c'est évidemment intraduisible. "du même sang" ou "de la même race", quoique "race" pose un sérieux problème éthique de nos jours, puisque les races n'existent pas, sauf pour les racistes. Pour ma part, je préfère "ethnie".

S'il s'agit de bêtes, on pourrait dire "congénères". Ce mot serait péjoratif pour des humains.
