منطقة جذب للفنانين
An enclosed territory that is culturally distinct from the foreign territory that surrounds it.
Enclave has many meanings, including a political meaning: For istance Gaza is often referred to as an enclave. The vatican is an enclave in Rome. But in the context of 'California' being an artist enclave, I think it means: California attracts artists who consider it as their Mecca
or:
Where a large number of artists are found.
This is why, in my opinion, the translation would be either منطقة or منطقة جذب للفنانين

ملاذ او ملجأ للفنانين
اذا اخذنا بالاعتبار ترجمة "المورد"، يكون المقصود ان البلدة المذكورة بمثابة ملاذ للفنانين وما حولها مغاير لما فيها، اي اجنبي عنها. هذه الترجمة خطرت لي بعد الاولى المدرجة، ولا اخالها تخالفها في الجوهر.
