: Nothing to do with trial results/outcomes. "la clínica" = the patient's signs, symptoms, imaging tests, etc. It's not ambiguous, used all the time in medical texts.

El presente estudio de tipo casos y controles donde los casos fueron los recién nacidos con clínica de sepsis neonatal asociado a dos hemocultivos positivos y los controles a los recién nacidos sin diagnóstico de sepsis y que tampoco recibieron antibiótico alguno. Se encontró que el hemograma sin correlacionar con la clínica es poco útil pero que la plaquetopenia fue resaltante en la ayuda diagnóstica para esta enfermedad.
