gainful employment, career

All the answers presented here are correct in that they all indicate one or another correct shade of meaning of this word. In this context, however, where the speaker points to his age, he is not exactly denying the pursuit of money per se, but rather the pursuit of gainful employment (working in the manner that a younger person would, in the pursuit of worldly gain and upward mobility). Everybody desires money, and everybody needs some form of sustenance, but a younger person is expected to to seek such things with a slightly different focus. This man is saying: I am not looking for a job for the sake of a salary and a career.

The term comes from the verb يتسبب, which means to earn income (from the noun سبب, which means "cause").
Peer comment(s):

agree Lamis Maalouf : Nice explanation. The word is used several times in the title and the body of this article to mean the same thing: A job opportunity or a source of income http://www.20at.com/20at/latest-news/1737.html
