Bio

My name is Silvana and I started my language career at 19 when I signed my first employment agreement as an English Instructor.

After completing a 9-year non-degree program at Instituto de Cultura Inglesa in Chaco and earning three Cambridge English Certificates, I was hired by the Institute to teach ESL to professional adults.

A year later I enrolled in the Traductorado Público Nacional de Inglés 5-year degree program in Facultad de Lenguas, at UNC. During that time I worked as a freelance translator of instruction manuals, correspondence, and application forms.

Upon completion of my Bachelor's degree, I relocated to the U.S., where I pursued my M.A. as a Spanish major. For three years, not only did I serve as GTA full responsibility Spanish instructor, but also translated legal and academic public documents for the student and faculty community at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Then, my career took a turn with the birth of my second child. I kept translating, but mainly on a pro bono basis. I joined the Spanish-English simultaneous interpreters' team of the SDA Iglesia Hispana de Lincoln. Translations were reserved for family and personal business.

The last decade of my career has been marked by a strong focus on bilingual homeschool education,  plus further community outreach. The latter has often called for training, translation, and consecutive interpretation in the areas of lifestyle, travel, hospitality, emotional healing, and well-being.

I only commit to assignments that are compatible with my education, experience, skills, and interests.
