I used to specialize in complex legal translations delivered by ridiculous deadlines; then I had my three daughters and downshifted. I can't work all hours any more, but I do guarantee exceptional quality and attention to detail over a wide range - literature, journalism, film scripts and subtitles, tourist guides, websites, legal documents and more. I am also an experienced and trusted editor of Russian-English translations.
Experience:
2012-present: freelance translator and editor based in Moscow until 2014, now in London.
2003-12: full-time mother, but still speaking and reading Russian regularly.
2002-3: freelance translator and editor in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
1997-2000: freelance translator in London working mostly for international law firms.
1995-97: Manager of the Translation Group, Baker & McKenzie, Almaty.
1993-95: Associate and staff translator, The Chase Manhattan Bank, London.
Qualifications:
MA in Modern & Medieval Languages (Russian & French), Cambridge University, class 2:1. This included ten months at the Maurice Thorez Institute (Moscow State Linguistic University).
Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation (Russian into English), passed with Merit/Merit/Distinction.
Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists since 1998. Eight years' residence in Russia and Kazakhstan.
