So what are the qualities that go into making a “good” translation? It must meet several criteria in order to be considered “good.” The first criterion is rather obvious—it has to be accurate. Examples of where this often fails are mistranslations, missing sentences and bad grammar. This point accentuates the need to use translators with a thorough knowledge of both languages, not merely two years of a high school language. Mistranslations and missing words or sentences can have devastating consequences. Additionally, if a translation is fraught with bad grammar or spelling errors, the reader tends to lose confidence in not only the document, but also the company that produced it.

Also was sind nun die Qualitäten die in eine „gute“ Übersetzung ausmachen? Sie muss diverse Kriterien erfüllen, um als eine „gute“ Übersetzung anerkannt zu werden. Das erste Kriterium ist ziemlich offensichtlich – sie muss zutreffend sein. Beispiele, für Fälle in denen dies oftmals nicht gelingt, sind Übersetzungsfehler, fehlende Sätze oder schlechte Grammatik. Dieser Aspekt verdeutlicht die Notwendigkeit von Übersetzern mit umfassendem Wissen in beiden Sprachen und nicht mit lediglich zwei Jahren Oberschulen-Sprache Erfahrungen. Übersetzungsfehler, sowie fehlende Wörter oder Sätze, können verheerende Folgen nach sich ziehen. Zusätzlich tendiert der Leser dazu, Vertrauen an Übersetzungen, welche mit schlechter Grammatik und Rechtschreibfehlern gefüllt sind, zu verlieren und somit nicht nur am Dokument, sondern darüber hinaus auch an der Firma, welche diese produziert hat.
