Source text - German Aluminium-Gussfederstütze (karosserieseitig)
Beim RR4 wird erstmalig eine Aluminium-Gussfederstütze eingesetzt. Diese bringt folgende Vorteile:
●geringeres Gewicht durch intelligente Leichtbauweise
●verbesserte Fahrdynamik durch höhere Steifigkeit
●weniger Bauteile, somit geringerer Fertigungsaufwand.
The Die-casting aluminum spring support (of car body side)
In the RR4, one die-casting aluminum spring support is inserted for the first time. This brings following advantages:
less weight via intelligent lightweight construction;
bettered driving dynamics via higher rigidity;
fewer components and less manufacturing outlay therewith.
The die-casting aluminum spring support absorbs the forces from undercarriage and transmits them into the body. And not only the MacPherson strut, but also the upper A-arm is fastened on the die-casting spring support.
Therefore, high rigidity of this component is demanded. This will be fulfilled through optimal material distribution, while the material is only stacked on the place where it's necessary. Therewith, the spring support shows its essential contribution to the driving quality, because it supports the static and dynamic wheel forces. Through die-casting construction, many single functions and components could be integrated into one single component; this component is therefore more compact in comparison with traditional monocoque construction and contributes essentially for weight reduction. Through lightweight construction made of die-casting aluminum, the weight is reduced for about 50% against traditional monocoque.
Structure-space-saving against traditional monocoque gives us benefit from:
80mm shorter front end;
function-justified figuration through targeted local strengthening as contribution to lightweight construction;
integrated divers holders for fixing aggregates etc. into the component die-casting aluminum spring support with mounting parts.
The die-casting aluminum spring support is fitted with the nearing steel parts (for example an engine bearer) via a riveting-bonding-construction. The construction leads to less weight and enable the reduction of parts (no additional sheet holders).
Even so, the car body is more stable and rigid in use, and the local rigidity is enhanced. This is overall conducive to a bettered driving dynamics.
