story-telling festival
Hello
I'm trying to find a nice succinct way of saying this, as it's a summary of a festival. Do we have an equivalent or do I really have to say something like "story-telling with drinks".
"Une dizaine de spectacles pour les tout petits, par des compagnies de toute la France. Dans le même temps se déroulent des apéros-contes, des expos, un colloque..."
Thanks

aperitif stories/storytelling
Hi there,
This is just a suggestion, not as catchy as the French I'm afraid :)
I also found this "Tales of the Cocktail", but it's an official event, so I don't think you can use that, you may like to take a look:

: Trouble is, either of your suggestions use a word order that tends to suggest the stories are ABOUT aperitifs / cocktails — just as a fairy story is about fairies...

apero-contes
storytelling with refreshments
I think other proposals could work, but to me a reception is normally quite formal, and I doubt whether this is. I think refreshments conjures up a picture of "a little something to eat and drink, if you want it" along with the story.

John Holland
: I agree with your thoughts on "reception." Another option is "cocktail hour readings": https://duckduckgo.com/?q="cocktail hour reading"

Thanks, John. It really depends on the 'do'. Most aperos I went to in France gave you a slosh of something out of a bottle (whisky, pastis, wine...) in a plastic cup. Don't think they'd have served a Screwdriver! :)

: Possibly more appropriate for the presumably informal nature of this event; John, note that these 'contes' are often from memory, so 'readings' might not be appropriate.

: Again, I worry that this sounds like the drinks are doing the telling; adding 'with B.H.' in your example does help to avoid this ambiguity...

: Sounds like the storytellers need some alcoholic encouragement to get them telling stories.

or maybe it's the listeners who need a drink!
