I just want to check that this word means hobby, and not something more than that. The book is about a businessman who starts diving because his friends are diving, and now dives regularly and takes pictures. He often goes on trips that are one or two weeks long, so he must be working somewhere that he can get nice vacation time, but still I don't think this is his career because he does not have his own boat or anything.
Or maybe there is some other phrase, like "my lifelong passion"?

2010年，我刚开始接触海底摄影，现在因为爱上了，我也开始把海底摄影当作长期的兴趣志业。这三年下来，我一共用掉了五百只气瓶，这是不间断努力而达成的目标。看在许多潜水者眼中，这或许也是不可思议的事。不过我做到了，但却没有因此感到满足。在海底，能拍下许多精彩画面是一件很幸运也幸福的事。但每一次拍完，我都知道还有进步的空间。唯有不间断提升摄影水平，持续下到深海里，一次又一次反覆拍摄，才有机会拍出好照片。而拍出好照片，这简单纯粹的念头，已经是我潜水的最大驱动力。
