German term

übungsstabil

German to English Medical Medical (general) Obstetrics
I know this has been asked before, but this is a different context. An obstetrics report:

"TVS: unauff., Cx. lang mit kl. inn. Trichter übungsstabil"

Thanks in advance for any insights

@uyuni Maybe you could post your explanation as an answer. They're asking me to select the most helpful answer.

Thank you, thefastshow for adding some more sources supporting my first assumption (see below)...

Indeed a funny terminology in this context...
I guess the author adopts the classifications given here :

Diese Be-

According to wikipedia „Übungsstabil“ seems to be an old term for „bewegungsstabil“:

Translated to a pregnancy this would mean the cervix is still firm and closed („stable“) under „normal“ everyday conditions (for instance under the circumstances at the time of the manual cervix examination).

Under stress load, whether induced by physical activity or premature and/or normal labour contractions this may change though.
Check this for context : https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/pregnancy-week-...

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7899741/

In the following example the cervix remained „belastungsstabil“ under the presence of contractions:
https://www.urbia.de/forum/2-schwangerschaft/4656762-wann-we...

And yes, inn. = innerer Trichter
Barbara L Pavlik (asker) Jun 3, 2023:
@uyuni Thanks, I'll do some more research along those lines.

@Phil "Transvaginal ultrasound: unremarkable, cervix (long?) with small (still not sure about inn., possibly inner?) funnel übungsstabil"
uyuni Jun 3, 2023:
'übungsstabil' (rather unusual phrasing in this context) might mean the same as 'belastungsstabil', i.e. that there is no imminent risk of a premature birth on mobilization/weight bearing due to cervical insufficiency and the fetus is still retained securely. I am not an Obstetrician/Gynecologist, though...

How have you translated the rest of the sentence?

Or perhaps 'no indication of cervical insufficiency'...

practice stable

In the context of the obstetrics report provided, I would translate the term "übungsstabil" to "practice stable" in English. I think this term describes the condition or stability of the cervix during transvaginal sonography (TVS) examination.

Note from asker:
Thanks Liz, this is helpful, although I still have no idea what the term means, at least I have a bit more context.
