German term

Linsenoptik

German to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng
Hinter einem entspiegelten Abschlussglas liegt die Linsenoptik mit nur einem einzelnen LED-Lichtpunkt.

I have found "Linsenoptik" translated as "lens optic" and "lens optics", and am not sure whether either is correct in English. Can anyone explain to me what exactly a "Linsenoptik" is and whether it just means the same as "Linse".

TIA.

Here's the context It's in the third paragraph. I think it just means lens.

lens

I think "lens optic" is a tautology. A lens is an optic.

optic n
any of the elements (such as lenses, mirrors, or light guides) of an optical instrument or system —usually used in plural

Also, I know Linguee is not the most reliable reference because it scoops up often poor-quality translations, but Linsenoptik is sometimes translated simply as lens here:

agree Esther Pugh : I agree; they're just referring to the lens itself.

lense optic

I've seen the term 'lense optic' used frequently for LED lighing.

Here's an example:

Sorry for the typo, it should be "lens".

neutral philgoddard : This is a 70-page document, so I haven't found your reference, but the translation doesn't inspire much confidence if it misspells "lens".

disagree Steffen Walter : "Lens", not "lense" - and your example is a translation.
