AB

German to English Medical Medical (general) Stroke
"NIHSS: vig:0, mot re /AB: 0/0; FP re:1, Aphasie 0"

This is from the medical chart of a stroke victim. The NIHSS is the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale. The vig. is Bewusstseinslage/Vigilanz, and FP is Fazialisparese/Motorik des Gesichtes, but I have no clue as to what the AB might be.

One source I've been using is: https://flexikon.doccheck.com/de/National_Institutes_of_Heal...

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Seems more likely to me than "Absinken"

Absinken

Hi,

The NIHSS scores 4 regions of the body for motor function. Consistent in all 4 is "Absinken". Can't think of any other explanation.

Weaker side, arm or leg, with stroke

Stroke patients often have decreased awareness of their weaker side. This can manifest in different ways such as not turning the head toward the weaker side, forgetting to put the weaker arm or leg in clothing, and not noticing objects or people approaching the weak side. Left side neglect tends to be more severe than right side neglect.

https://www.stroke-rehab.com/effects-of-stroke.html

The NIHSS is a 15-item neurological examination stroke scale used to evaluate the effect of acute cerebral infarction on the levels of consciousness, language, neglect, visual-field loss, extraocular movement, motor strength, ataxia, dysarthria, and sensory loss.

Ratings for each item are scored on a 3- to 5-point scale, with 0 as normal, and there is an allowance for untestable items. Scores range from 0 to 42, with higher scores indicating greater severity.
