German term

SAA

German to English Medical Medical (general) Internal medicine, vascular
This is from a German medical report. Patient suffers from peripheral arterial occlusive disease as well as other ailments.
The report is from an internist and angiologist. "SAA" is mentioned twice, as follows:

"Heute Duplex der SAA geplant."

"Weiterhin stabile PAVK und keine Stenose der SAA. Ko. der Beine für den Herbst geplant."

I can't find the abbreviation "SAA" in any abbreviations list or on google.

Thanks!

Stephen

Hope this helps

neutral Siegfried Armbruster : And what is the connection between "supraaortale Arterien" and "Beine"? Sounds like different ends of the patient

agree liz askew : FWIW, I think this is much more likely

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks! I am confident this is the correct meaning of "SAA". When I proofread my translation, I noticed the patient is also suffering from "Supraaort. Mehrgefäßerkrg.", so apparently they were checking this too, even though PAOD was his main diagnosis."

Suprarenalis Aorta abdominalis

That's possible the only vessel I can think of that might fit in.
The abdominal aorta is routinely assessed in patients with peripheral arterial disease.

I guess I should have added the English term instead of Latin terminology - suprarenal abdominal aorta

Could it be English already?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restenosis

A stent is a mesh, tube-like structure often used in conjunction with angioplasty to permanently hold open an artery, allowing for unrestricted blood flow, or to support a weakness in the artery wall called an aneurysm. The artery can react to the stent, perceive it as a foreign body, and respond by mounting an immune system response which leads to further narrowing near or inside the stent.
Peer comment(s):

agree Siegfried Armbruster : could be perfect German too "https://books.google.de/books/about/Stent_assistierte_Angiop..." Natürlich kann man eine Stenose eines Stents haben, das ist eine bekannte Komplikation.

Danke S
neutral liz askew : how can you have stenosis of this though?keine Stenose der SAA. This discusses "post-angioplasty stenosis" though, not "stent-assisted angioplasty stenosis".
