His work can be sculptural and clever, but it is also comfortable and empowering.

rassicurante/legittimante
His work can be sculptural and clever, but it is also comfortable and empowering.

Buon lavoro!

in command
It’s amazing how a different height of your heel can alter your perspective on life, physically and psychologically. For years, high heels were sold to us as “empowering”. But, put a model in trainers and suddenly her age drops, the corners of her mouth lift, her gait picks ups.
At Chanel’s couture show, 65 of them – models that is – positively bounded up and down the steps leading to the vast catwalk. Perhaps that’s why the set, which took eight days to construct beneath the vast glass domes of the Grand Palais, incorporated not one, but two sweeping staircases, the better to highlight this extraordinary new fashion insight: give a woman comfortable shoes and she immediately looks happier, younger, in command of a flight of steps. That too is empowering.
Mind you, these were couture trainers – embroidered, jewelled and lasered to look like lace. They will not be sold over the counter, although Chanel has been selling ready to wear trainers for some time, at around £400 a pair – loose change, compared with the couture version.
