cocoa with a conscience

One idea if the emphasis is on "bio" and environmental issues. The asker might know more about whether it fits her text
Peer comment(s):

disagree Paul Cohen : Sorry, that would be "Kakao mit Herz" -- as in "Ein Herz für die Umwelt". Here we're talking about the quality of the beans, not their environmental motives. // yes, bizarre language. Reminds me of wine descriptions.

Just going on the reference to "Bio-Pioniere"

cocoa with an unmistakable character

I think the "Seele" in German refers to character - both in the sense of (unique) flavor/richness and class.

Peer comment(s):

agree Colin Rowe : I think you have hit the cocoa bean on the head.

agree with paul about "character"--but this has more "soul" ;-) -- and a rhythm closer to the original...

rich and tasty cocoa

This is as much a question of culture as language. The German language (or culture or both?) tolerates a level of sentimentality/kitsch/childishness/simpering which would be laughed at by cynical Anglo-Saxons. I think "Kakao mit Seele" falls into this category. Translating the expression accurately would in my opinion invite ridicule in the English speaking world (for "liebe Zuschauer"-nobody says "Dear viewers")
