For the organization above, its short history and limited resources prevent sound growth of the translation business in the country of Thailand. The Association executives started careers from literature translation and activities on technical, academic, medical, legal or other front-end translation cannot be observed. Outsourcing companies make all the profit while interpreters are struggling to make a 3rd country wages, while paying US prices! My current offers come to about $5.00 USD per hour, while minimum wages are $15. I have been a court interpreter for over 8 years, and never been paid less than $50/hr. If the court approaches you directly, they pay you at least $75/hr. It depends where you interpret in the US. Some courts pay more than other courts. .... But $ 5/hr ????? .....C'mmon! The worst agencies pay $45/hr. .... and by the way .... it is INTERPRETERS, not Translators ....!
