A client, knowing that I've begun working with Trados, has sent me a text file containing a translation memory (?) as a reference for future jobs. I'm at a loss cause I don't know what I can do with it to make use of it.
The file looks something like this (The words between *** are words that I've inserted for confidentiality purposes):

It starts off like this:

< TWBExportFile version="7.0" generator="TW4Win" build="7.1.0.719" >

< FontTable >
{\fonttbl
{\f1 \fmodern\fprq1 \fcharset0 Courier New;}
{\f2 \fswiss\fprq2 \fcharset0 Arial;}
{\f3 \fcharset178 Arial (Arabic);}

....it goes on along those lines for something like forever, then it looks like that:

< CrD >11052005, 14:56:17
< CrU >***name of project manager***
< ChD >27012006, 09:21:55
< ChU >***name of project manager***
< Att L=Sprache >AS EN, ZS AR
< Seg L=EN-GB >***English sentence***
< Seg L=AR-EG >***Arabic sentence***
< /TrU >

It goes on and on, sentence for sentence.

Can anyone give me a clue?

TIA

Nesrin

Import file Apr 26, 2006

Hi Nesrin,
Looks like a TM export, which you will need to import (into an empty TM, for example).

See section 5-23 et seq. of the Translator's Workbench User Guide for details.

HTH, Ralf

Thanks Ralf Apr 26, 2006

Thanks as ever Ralf! I'll give it a try and hope it will work!

(I just edited my posting cause all the text between < > had disappeared, I'm glad you could make sense of it anyway).

Cheers,

Nesrin
