| Translation - English The First Rule
The first rule consists of actions and etiquette. These guide the paths of righteousness.
The Second Rule
The second rule is in the administration of the king. His throne and his staff need strength in their authority
The Third Rule
If his ruling and government are perfect. He may find entertainment and vacation.
The Fourth Rule
He must be able to read people’s faces.
And thus ends the rules of politics.
The First Chapter concerns commandments, etiquette, and wisdom that guides the paths of righteousness; thus it contains four chapters.
Chapter 1: the recommendation of justice and kindness
My son, keep in mind that justice is the main guide of the state, so treat it as a torch that lights the way and do not extinguish it with the gust of injustice. Even with the storm of injustice blowing and the torch affected, rule with justice based on wisdom; give kindness in secret; avoid the forbidden; be patient in trying times; and run the state to the best of your ability. Corruption of the state comes with breaching its revenues. My son, be chaste, disciplined, modest, and serene. Your term on the throne is strictly for justice. Be generous and make your rule prestigious. My son, listen to these lessons in distress. Give forgiveness and pardon when possible. Show love to the ones you love and do not spread hatred to those you hate. Son, beware of admiration of the masses. A flaw of the king comes with no critique of his actions and mere admiration of his own actions despite his death being near. My son, there are four principles that don't disappear concerning those who have good management in affairs–in the pursuit of justice and the public.
