I have been called a workaholic (mostly by my grown-up children) but I enjoy what I do and I am free to do as I please. Financially I could live without freelancing but my psyche would suffer enormously. So, I’m always (more or less) eager to work, be it at the beginning of the year or at the end… | | | neilmac Spain Local time: 18:35 Spanish to English + ... Yes, somewhat | Dec 29, 2021 |
I'm usually back home to see the family for a couple weeks at the end of the year. Although I do keep on working, I also have to fit in things like looking after my ageing and increasingly infirm mother, or cleaning up after my daughter's equally ageing and increasingly infirm cat, which this morning projectile vomited over the furniture. So yes, sometimes I just don't feel like working at my usual rate. Happy New Year everybody! | | | Not less eager | Dec 29, 2021 |
But it is nice to slow down the last couple of weeks before year end. And get ready with anticipation for the new year. Happy New Year 2022 to everyone!

It Depends, Different During Diferent Years | Dec 29, 2021 |
While this year I have been recovering, over the holidays, from a book translation that required a massive amount of research and from all the work I had to do for this past semester's Italian course, I am happy that I have been able to relax and catch up on reading and routine doctor's visits and medical tests, in other words, take care of myself after taking care of what everybody else wanted me to do (although I was happy I had the chance to do it). See more While this year I have been recovering, over the holidays, from a book translation that required a massive amount of research and from all the work I had to do for this past semester's Italian course, I am happy that I have been able to relax and catch up on reading and routine doctor's visits and medical tests, in other words, take care of myself after taking care of what everybody else wanted me to do (although I was happy I had the chance to do it). But most years I am quite eager to work while end-of-year festivities are going on, because I don't have the extra burden of classes, and because all of the news and politics-oriented programs I normally watch or listen to are re-runs or have guest hosts who sometimes are not all that adept or interesting. Therefore, right now is usually one of my favorite times of year to work on translations.

Just 'no' | | | Yes, somewhat | Dec 30, 2021 |
I have a long list of "things" that I usually do around Christmas, such as decorating my tree with unique ornaments collected over more than half a century, sending out cards, writing to other friends online, giving tips to service people, etc. This season I've been in touch with more than 200 people. It's hard to do all this and also give translation my full attention. | | | Mr. Satan (X) English to Indonesian I'm actually more eager | Dec 31, 2021 |
Quite the contrary, I'm more productive around the end-year. This is because rainy seasons occur from October to March, and the rain cools down the temperature. My lazy phase is some time around April to September, which is the dry season. It's pretty hard to work when it is 102 degree Fahrenheit outside. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Do you feel like you are less eager to work towards the end of the year?
