Few potential clients will attempt to view your CV, so when a client does want to do that, then you should make sure nothing stands in their way. If Gmail refuses to show a preview of your CV, then it will cost you clients.

There may be something wrong with the file. I suggest you send it to me so that I can have a look. What kind of a file is it? PDF, DOCX? If PDF, how did you create the PDF file?

That is no consolation. Very few clients will take steps to overcome the hurdle of not being able to see a preview of it.

Hi,

I suspect my attached CV is not getting trough to potential clients. It says "Cannot preview the file, try downloading it". Anyhow, with that said you can still open it with Google Docs without downloading it.
Is it a problem? Is it OK?

Sorry to post again.

I had assumed that after toggling on two-factor authentication that previous sessions (on other browsers and computers) would be signed out automatically - as happens when you turn on two-step verification for gmail, for example.

This is not the case on ProZ.

Please do this periodically anyway, it is a good habit.

I just found out now, when my laptop was still logged in (which I signed in days before enabling 2FA), and obviously didn't ask me for an email code to enter.
After signing out, I was correctly asked to enter a code after the password.

Hi Gjorgji,

I found this post today while searching for "2FA" in the forum.

I am not sure when this was implemented, but there is currently the option to be sent a 6-digit code by email that you must enter every time you log in.

You can toggle this optional setting from here:

Not the most secure method, but at the very least it is a good start.

now i got the chance to check the problem on the other part, with a guy that i know. I thought checking the attachement is simple - just clicking on the icon...

It happened again today.
I write an email to which i add an attachement file (.doc). The receiver of the email cannot open the file. He said there is no 'open' icon.

Since Google is on its campaign to force AI Translate into everything, one of the things that started to happen over the last few months when I use web search (I don't use Chrome; it's too ugly) is that results show AI-translated pages.
So, now I use DuckDuckGo (or, sometimes, Qwant) for most of my web searches, but if I need to use Google search, I use the new Web option that appears under the More drop-down menu, or I add site:.br (or whatever country you want the results from) to the query.

IMO, this AI invasion isn't helping anybody other than the Google director's pocket, probably.

OTOH this simple method won’t work if you don’t expect the terms used in your query string to show in the results 'exactly as is'.

I just discovered that after I have made the first search, there is a tiny Tools list menu just below the magnifying glass in the Google search bar where I am able to select a particular language for the search results. When I have changed there to search only Swedish pages, it only displays "Search Swedish pages" if I click on the small down-arrow beside "Tools 1" (I don't know what that number "1" signifies). Earlier, you could see at once the text "Search Swedish pages", but now it's hidden in that list menu.

But, no matter what I try, when I enter "google.se" in the address field, it always changes to "google.com".

Does anyone have any solution to get back the Google Chrome search results in one's native language? | Have you tried setting up a custom search engine?

How?
In the 'Customize and control Google Chrome' sidebar:
Select 'Settings'
Select 'Search engine'
In the 'Search engine' box it probably says 'Google' - which is the standard entry point.
Click 'Manage search engines and site search'
In the 'Search engine' section, follow the instructions to create a new search URL, with the features you want. For example, I use the following URL to force Google into 'Verbatim' mode:

You can add other filters - to get results in Swedish you could add &lr=lang_se to the above URL.

In the same box you can select your new search URL as the default, so all future searches will (should!!!) be in Swedish and in verbatim mode.

The above procedure works in the latest version of Chrome Version 138.0.7204.101 (Official Build) (64-bit), running on up-to-date Win10 Pro.

After Chrome or Win10 updates, the default search engine option is sometimes lost (i.e. Chrome reverts to the standard search URL), and it may be necessary to reselect your custom URL as the default.
Finally, the 'Advanced search' options are still available - via the 'Tools' dropdown at the right-hand side of the toolbar under the search box (but only after you've done a 'normal' search with your current default search URL).

From a Google search, it seems that the Advanced Search options are under "Tools" in Chrome (same in Firefox lately).
Another option is using the operator "site:.se", which will display only sites from this domain.

But Chrome has changed a lot since that worked, and the cogwheel disappeared long time ago, meaning you have to manually enter the URL for the Advanced Search page to get there. I can't recall exactly what the text is that Google displays when I have the settings set to display only results in the Swedish language, my native language. So that when I search on something, it reads furthest up something like "Search results in Swedish". Now, and since quite a long time, that is not the case, although it worked once I opened the Advanced Search page and set the setting there. I had to do this manually each time, earlier that was not the case.

It has been an issue for a long time that seems to not have any easy fix, that you can't get search results only for your native language displayed. This worked for me until just recently:

Emails from multiple Chinese agencies have been sent to my spam folder by my ISP. Which is annoying because I was happy to switch from webmail to Outlook, which is more suitable for writing emails. Now I need to check my online and local spam folders, and add contacts to my address book in both places, or use an unfiltered email address I only give to regular clients. Filtering the flood of spam is hard. I get legitimate emails from Coinbase sometimes, while 99% of the emails using that name will be scams.

You could be right David, that they just ignored me if they found someone else within the 5.5 hours that I didn't reply. My time was 10 minutes past midnight when I received their email. In Europe, the time was around 9pm in the evening on Sunday.

Yesterday, I asked for if they could email me the explanation given by their email server for their proprietary domain. I think there should always be output such an explanation for each email flagged as SPAM. So far, they have not replied to my request. The reason for me wanting them to email this explanation to me was so that I, if possible, could prevent this from happening again.

Hello Fredrik,

There are tons of reasons why this could happen, and such information may be easily found on the web - see [url removed]

Your 2nd email could contain additional triggers that were absent in the 1st email, e.g. these could be the word 'payment' or 'rate of Y$'.
Moreover, your current IP address does not correspond to the location declared in your profile (and perhaps elsewhere - in the 1st message itself, in the CV etc.), and as spam identification filters become smarter and smarter, the location discrepancy + additional trigger words could be the reason of marking that email as spam.

What about sending the same message from 4 different addresses: this is definitely a VERY bad idea as getting the same message 4 times would be considered by the addressee as spamming them. You should simply ask the client to add a filter for your main address (so it would always go to their inbox) and inform them about your additional addresses.
