Buongiorno,
ho appena sentito (o almeno credo di aver sentito) in un'intervista, la seguente domanda:

Where do we think that Lempicka was hanging when then artist decorate this building?

Ha qualche senso secondo voi?
Si parla della pittrice Tamara de Lempicka e del fatto che avesse ritratto tutta la famiglia Boucard, non capisco se l'intervistatore abbia chiesto qualcosa del tipo "dove si pensa che fosse appeso il quadro della Lempicka" o altro. Poi non capisco il "when then artist"... Qualche suggerimento?

Non credo che quel "then" qui sai da interpretare come ha suggerito kakapo77.
L'impressione che ho io è che sia semplicemente una frase costruita male e che la soluzione sia la più semplice che possa venire in mente, e cioè: quando/nel momento in cui l'artista decorò l'edificio"?
Visto che si tratta di un file audio, e magari a volte la qualità non è il massimo (non so nemmeno chi è che parli, se un madrelingua inglese o meno), non è più probabile che sia un semplice misunderstanding? :)

Explanation:
Spesso il "then" è preposto al nome di una professione, in espressioni come "tne president", cioè "l'allora presidente" o "...che allora era presidente". La frase, poi, sembra non essere riportata in modo del tutto corretto, al di là di questa espressione.
