Hi Everyone,

I am new a translation and interpretation. After getting layoff in the oil and gas industry. I decided to put my skills in Portuguese/English to work. I'm needing lots of guidance and a mentor.

Hi Everyone,

I am new a translation and interpretation. After getting layoff in the oil and gas industry. I decided to put my skills in Portuguese/English to work. I'm needing lots of guidance and a mentor.
I live in Houston, Texas and I have to start getting clients. I'm not sure how to go about. I have a website called Lingua Franca Business. I have a lot of answers and I don't know anyone that could take me under their wings. I still have not found out my area of expertise. Just knowing that translation/interpretation is what i want to do is such a huge relief. I'm desperate for feedbacks.

Thank you,

Gracie Presley

...desperation a bit, you will get loads of helpful advice from pros here.

But enough plugs from me. The main question for you to answer a) to yourself and b) to your potential customers is Are your writing skills impeccable?

It would be remiss of me to encourage anyone to pursue a career as a translator if that person doesn't have superb writing skills in all the languages he/she speaks in.
